IDF Captain David Hazut Killed in South Lebanon Clash, Funeral Held in Ashkelon
The funeral of Captain David Hazut, deputy commander of Golani Brigade's 12th Battalion, who was killed in combat in southern Lebanon, took place today at the Ashkelon cemetery. Hundreds attended the ceremony, including Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the "Yashar" organization, to support Hazut's family and his mother Galit, as he was her only son.
Hazut fell during an operational mission by the 12th Battalion in the Naftia area under the 36th Division's jurisdiction. The unit encountered a Hezbollah squad that apparently attempted an ambush. During the exchange of fire involving small arms and missiles, Hazut was killed and an IDF soldier was lightly wounded and evacuated to a hospital.
Shortly after the incident, the Israeli Air Force struck the area to neutralize additional enemy fire sources. The operation underscores ongoing tensions and hostilities in the border region between Israel and Lebanon.
