IDF Captain David Hazut Killed in South Lebanon Clash, Video of Training Released

A video showing Captain David Hazut with his Golani Brigade soldiers at the end of their training was released following his death in combat in southern Lebanon. The footage, filmed about two and a half years ago during the brown beret ceremony, surfaced hours after Hazut's fatal encounter. Hazut, 21, from Ashkelon, served as a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade's 12th Battalion.

Hazut was killed during an operational activity near 2:00 a.m. in the village of Deir Sirian, located within the Israeli security zone in southern Lebanon, approximately five kilometers from the border near Mount Ramim. According to an initial investigation, a militant hiding in a stairwell opened fire at close range on the Golani reconnaissance unit conducting a building search. Hazut was killed, and another soldier was lightly wounded and evacuated to a hospital. The militant escaped the scene.

In response, the IDF launched an aerial strike on Hezbollah infrastructure in Deir Sirian. Israeli security forces continue to pursue the militant, and IDF units remain active in the area to secure the region and prevent further attacks.
