Golani Brigade Lieutenant Colonel David Hazut Killed in South Lebanon Combat
Lieutenant Colonel David Hazut, 21, from Ashkelon and a platoon commander in the 12th Battalion of the Golani Brigade, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon, the IDF announced. This follows a week in which several Israeli soldiers were laid to rest after falling in fighting in Lebanon.
Among the fallen was Lieutenant Colonel Dor Ben Shimon, commander of the 52nd Battalion, who died alongside three of his soldiers, Sergeants Nohe Havshush, Liav Kabbaya, and Yoav Klein, in a tank explosion. Additionally, Staff Sergeant Alexander Filin, 29, was killed by an explosive device in the village of Al-Taybeh. Staff Sergeant Nir Ben Ari, 21, died from rocket and explosive drone fire by Hezbollah, and Reserve Sergeant Bassel Sweid, 32, was killed in a military fuel truck rollover.
These casualties highlight the ongoing hostilities and risks faced by Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon amid escalating tensions with Hezbollah. The IDF continues to monitor the situation closely as it mourns the loss of its soldiers.
