IDF Golani Commander Captain David Hazut Falls in Battle, Leaves Moving Final Message to Family
Captain David Hazut, a company commander in the 12th Battalion of the Golani Brigade, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon between Saturday night and Sunday. Hazut, an only child who lost his father at a young age, was determined to serve as a frontline fighter despite his family tragedy. His mother, Galit, described him as a "kingly child" who told her, "Mom, I’m going to the combat unit. My whole world is Golani, there’s nothing like Golani. Only for the country." He also said, "Mom, if something happens to me, keep living. I did what was required of me for the country."
Hazut’s aunt, Moran, recounted his exceptional personality and dedication, noting that his mother had to sign consent for him to join Golani since he was an only child. His father died of sudden cardiac arrest when David was 16, yet he was resolute in his desire to serve in combat roles. Despite being assigned to rear positions due to his family situation, he insisted on fighting at the front, participating in operations in Gaza and Lebanon and always leading his troops.
Two weeks before his death, Hazut asked his mother to fulfill his spiritual will: "If I don’t come back, I want you to smile and live." The family is now calling on the public to attend his funeral to honor the fallen soldier who gave everything for the nation.
