IDF Captain David Hazut Killed in Clash with Hezbollah in South Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that Captain David Hazut, a 21-year-old platoon commander from Ashkelon in the Golani Brigade's 12th Battalion, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon. The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. near the Deir Sirian area when a Golani battalion combat team encountered a Hezbollah militant who opened fire on the Israeli forces. During the exchange, Captain Hazut was fatally wounded, and another soldier was lightly injured and evacuated to a hospital for treatment. The IDF forces returned fire, but the militant was not neutralized on the spot. Subsequently, the IDF launched an artillery strike against the area. The family of the injured soldier has been informed. The IDF permitted the publication of this information on Sunday morning.
