Magen David Adom Reports Over 3,300 Medical Incidents on Yom Kippur

Magen David Adom (MDA) reported treating over 3,300 individuals during Yom Kippur, with the majority of cases related to the fast. MDA medical teams responded to 368 individuals who fainted, suffered from dehydration, or felt unwell due to fasting. Additionally, 299 people were treated for injuries sustained while using scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, and roller shoes, with 9 classified as moderate and 290 as minor injuries.

Medical teams also handled 40 injuries resulting from violence across various locations. These included a fatality in Umm al-Fahm and a critical injury in Be'er Sheva. In traffic accidents, MDA treated 46 individuals, including two fatalities, a 45-year-old and a 31-year-old man. A critical head injury was sustained by a man in his 50s, and a 37-year-old woman suffered a serious injury. The remaining traffic accident victims had moderate or minor injuries.

Beyond emergency responses, MDA facilitated 155 hospital transfers for women in labor and directly assisted in five births that occurred in Bnei Brak, Jerusalem, Hashmonaim, Ashdod, and Yiftah'el. In parallel, MDA's blood services supplied hospitals with 152 units and components of blood to meet medical needs throughout the holiday.

The overall medical activity encompassed fasting-related ailments, injuries from light transportation, violence and traffic incidents, births, and blood supply to hospitals.
