Magen David Adom Responds to Over 3,300 Incidents on Yom Kippur

Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical teams provided treatment to 3,322 individuals across Israel during Yom Kippur. Of these, 2,268 were transported to hospitals for further care. A significant portion of these hospitalizations, 368 cases, were due to fainting, dehydration, or general malaise resulting from the day-long fast.

In addition to fasting-related incidents, MDA teams responded to 299 injuries sustained from recreational activities like cycling, rollerblading, scooters, and skateboarding. Among these, 9 individuals were in moderate condition, while 290 had minor injuries.

Violence also led to medical emergencies, with 40 people injured in separate incidents nationwide. These included one fatality, a 40-year-old man in Umm al-Fahm, a 33-year-old man with a penetrating injury in Be'er Sheva who was in serious condition, five people in moderate condition, and 33 with minor injuries.

Road accidents accounted for 46 injuries, including two fatalities, a 45-year-old and a 31-year-old, both suffering from multi-system trauma. An additional person was in critical condition with a head injury, another woman aged 37 had limb injuries and was in serious condition, and there were three moderately injured and 39 lightly injured individuals.

MDA also facilitated 155 births, with five women delivering en route to the hospital with MDA's assistance. Babies were born in Bnei Brak, Jerusalem, Hasmonean, Ashdod, and Yavne'el. Furthermore, MDA's Blood Services supplied 152 units and components of blood to hospitals throughout the country during the holiday.
