Magen David Adom Reports Over 3,300 Treated During Yom Kippur
Magen David Adom (MDA) announced on Tuesday evening that its teams provided medical treatment to 3,322 individuals across Israel during Yom Kippur. Of those treated, 2,268 were transported to hospitals for further care. The majority of cases, 368 people, suffered from fainting, dehydration, and general malaise attributed to fasting.
Additionally, 299 individuals sustained injuries while riding bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and rollerblades. Among these, 9 were reported in moderate condition and 290 in mild condition.
In incidents of violence during the holiday, MDA teams provided first aid to 40 injured individuals. This included a fatality in Umm al-Fahm, where a man in his 40s died from his injuries. A 33-year-old man was seriously injured in Beersheba, alongside 5 moderate and 33 minor injuries.
Road accidents resulted in 46 injuries, including two fatalities (aged 45 and 31). A critical head injury was sustained by a man in his 50s, and a 37-year-old woman suffered serious injuries, along with 3 moderate and 39 minor injuries.
During Yom Kippur, MDA medical teams also transported 155 women in labor to hospitals and assisted in five births in Bnei Brak, Jerusalem, Hasmonean, Ashdod, and Yavne'el. The MDA Blood Services reported supplying hospitals with 152 units and components of blood during the holiday.
