Gunman Wounds Man Critically Near West Bank Settlement
On Sunday, the eve of Yom Kippur, a Palestinian gunman opened fire on people bathing in a spring near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Benjamin region of the West Bank. A man, approximately 30 years old, was critically wounded in the attack. The assailant reportedly fired from his vehicle at the bathers before fleeing the scene in the same car.
Israeli security forces, including the IDF, immediately launched a manhunt for the shooter, setting up roadblocks in the area. Helicopters were deployed to conduct aerial searches. Route 465, a major road in the region, was closed to traffic as the pursuit continued.
The attack occurred just before the start of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism, when many Israelis observe a day of fasting and prayer.
