Israel Braces for Hot Yom Kippur with Rising Temperatures

Israel is anticipating a warm Yom Kippur, with temperatures expected to rise slightly and be generally seasonable across most regions. The eve of the holiday will be mostly clear, but inland areas and the mountains will experience hot and dry conditions. Coastal plains and the Shephelah region will see temperatures reach 30 degrees Celsius (86°F) with 65% humidity, leading to heavy heat load.

On Yom Kippur itself, Monday, September 21st, the morning will be partly cloudy, clearing to fair weather later in the day. A slight additional increase in temperatures is forecast, particularly for the mountains and inland areas.

The weather will shift on Tuesday, September 22nd, with partly cloudy skies and a slight decrease in temperatures, mainly in the mountains and inland. This cooling trend will continue on Wednesday, September 23rd, with partly cloudy conditions and a further slight drop in temperatures inland and in the mountains. Light drizzle or localized rain is possible along the coastal plain on Wednesday morning.

Highs for Yom Kippur are predicted to be around 29°C (84°F) in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Ashdod, and Ashkelon, and 31°C (88°F) in Beersheba. Jerusalem will see highs of 29°C (84°F), while Afula could reach 33°C (91°F). Mitzpe Ramon will be cooler at 27°C (81°F).
