Israel Braces for Heatwave on Yom Kippur Holiday

Israel is set to experience a significant increase in temperature on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. While the day before the holiday will see temperatures typical for this time of year, conditions are expected to change on Yom Kippur itself. Inland areas and mountainous regions will become hot and dry.

Along the coast and in low-lying areas, temperatures are predicted to reach 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) during the holiday. Combined with humidity levels expected to hit 65%, this will intensify the feeling of heat, with meteorologists warning of severe heat in these locations. The hot and dry weather in the interior and mountains could make extended periods outdoors particularly uncomfortable.

Residents and those observing Yom Kippur outdoors are advised to be mindful of the weather conditions and avoid strenuous physical activity during the hottest parts of the day. Temperatures are expected to gradually decrease in the evening and overnight, though coastal humidity will remain elevated.
