Heatwave Expected During Yom Kippur Holiday
Temperatures will be seasonable on the eve of Yom Kippur, but a significant heatwave is forecast for the holy day itself. The interior of the country and the mountainous regions will experience hot and dry conditions.
Along the coast and in the lowlands, temperatures are expected to reach 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) with 65% humidity, leading to heavy heat load conditions. This will make observing the fast particularly challenging for those in these areas.
Highs are predicted across the country, with cities like Jerusalem expected to reach 29 degrees Celsius, Tel Aviv 30, Haifa 29, and Eilat reaching a scorching 36 degrees Celsius (97 degrees Fahrenheit). Lower elevations like Beit She'an and the Dead Sea area (Ein Gedi) will be even hotter, with forecasts of 37 and 34 degrees Celsius respectively.
