New Suspect Arrested in Israeli Espionage Case Involving Photos of President Herzog

Israeli authorities have apprehended a new suspect in an ongoing espionage investigation, linking him to an individual previously charged. The case involves Hamdan Hamdan, an Arab citizen residing in Majd al-Krum, who is suspected of carrying out security-related tasks for a foreign agent based in Lebanon, according to the "Voice of Israel" Telegram channel. Hamdan is reportedly related to Amir Hisham Muhammad Titi, who was indicted in July for espionage on behalf of Iran. Titi, an ambulance driver from Be'er Sheva, is accused of photographing Israeli President Isaac Herzog and the area surrounding the home of former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Separately, the Ynet news outlet reported on alleged surveillance related to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's legal proceedings. Former senior police official Shmuel Sharvit stated that Natan Eshel, a former chief of staff to Netanyahu and close associate, had his phone tapped for approximately one month before the operation was halted by leadership, possibly due to a lack of authorization from the attorney general.

Netanyahu's defense team contends that the surveillance of Eshel was an attempt to gather evidence against the Prime Minister. During a court session, attorney Amit Haddad presented documents identifying Eshel as someone who maintained contact with the "main suspect," a term the defense used to refer to Netanyahu.
