Israeli Arab Man Arrested for Espionage Ties to Lebanon
Israeli police and the Shin Bet security agency have arrested a 32-year-old man from the town of Majd al-Krum on suspicion of communicating with a foreign agent in Lebanon and carrying out security-related tasks. The joint statement from the police and Shin Bet indicated that the suspect was allegedly tasked with performing security missions under the agent's direction.
A months-long investigation by the Lahav 433 unit and the Shin Bet revealed that the suspect was aware he was in contact with a foreign agent from Lebanon. The agent reportedly attempted to pay the suspect by purchasing products from Israel and delivering them to him.
The investigation, which has been accompanied by the State Prosecutor's Office, is expected to lead to an indictment on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Authorities stated that hostile intelligence and terror elements continue their efforts to recruit Israelis for espionage and terror activities within Israel, even during the ongoing war, often using social media for recruitment.
