Teenager Fatally Struck by Car After Religious Event in Hadera

A 17-year-old yeshiva student, Amichai Attia, from the settlement of Itamar, was killed in Hadera after being struck by a car. Attia was attending a large Selichot prayer event with fellow students from the "Chitzim" yeshiva when the incident occurred in a parking area near the event. The driver, identified as a resident of Kafr Mandah, was reportedly speeding when he hit the teenager. Attia was critically injured and later pronounced dead. Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, and the driver has been apprehended.

Amichai Attia, son of Shagit and Yona Attia, was a beloved and vibrant member of the Itamar community and a youth group leader. He is survived by his parents and five siblings, including a twin brother. The Shomron Regional Council, where Itamar is located, is providing support to the bereaved family and the yeshiva community.

Local leaders, including Shomron Council head Yossi Dagan and Hadera Mayor Nir Ben-Haim, have been in contact to coordinate assistance. Dagan expressed shock and sorrow, stating, "Amichai was a young man with his whole life ahead of him. He went out with his friends for a night of Selichot and did not return home." The Itamar community leadership also issued a statement, calling Attia a "full partner in the community's life, loved by his friends and appreciated by those around him."
