Teenager Killed in Hit-and-Run, Shooting Incident at Israeli Shopping Center

A 17-year-old resident of the West Bank settlement of Itamar, Amichai Atiya, was killed early Friday morning in a hit-and-run and subsequent shooting incident at the "Mal Hachof Village" shopping complex in Hadera. According to police, the event began with a confrontation between parties, during which the teenager was struck by a vehicle. Following the collision, an individual at the scene allegedly opened fire on the driver who hit Atiya, wounding him lightly. Atiya sustained critical injuries and was transported to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The driver, identified as a resident of the northern village of Kafr Mandi, was also treated for minor injuries.

Initial investigation findings suggest a dispute preceded the fatal incident. Atiya had been attending a Selichot (penitential prayers) event in Hadera with fellow students from his yeshiva (religious school). While in the parking area near the event, the driver of a vehicle reportedly sped and hit him. Police forces secured the scene, collected evidence, and launched an investigation into the circumstances. The investigation is being conducted by the central unit of the Menashe region.

Regional Council head Yossi Dagan expressed shock and sorrow over the death, offering condolences to the family and community. He stated that the council would provide support to Atiya's family, the Itamar community, and the yeshiva students. Authorities are working with the Hadera municipality and educational and welfare officials to provide assistance. Police are examining the precise sequence of events and the motives behind the confrontation. At this stage, the incident is being treated as criminal, with no indication of a terror attack. No suspects have been arrested as of Friday.
