The story · English

Five people died in four separate road accidents across Israel on Thursday. In the north, near Kiryat Ata, a motorcyclist in his 30s was killed when struck by a car. Earlier, on Highway 20 near the Kakal interchange, one person died and five were injured in a collision between a bus and a taxi.

In the Negev, near Giv'ot Bar, two men in their 30s were killed when two vehicles collided. In northern Tel Aviv, a cyclist in his 50s was hit by a car in the early morning hours. His condition was initially critical, but he was pronounced dead after resuscitation efforts.

The driver who hit the cyclist, identified as a Palestinian illegally present in Israel, was arrested. He is also suspected of stealing the vehicle used in the incident, and a bag containing car theft tools was found inside. The driver requested to remain in custody, and the judge criticized the police.

According to data from the Or Yarok Association, 320 people have been killed in road accidents since the beginning of 2026. This represents a 3% decrease compared to the same period last year.
