Five Dead in Four Fatal Road Accidents Across Israel

Five people were killed in four separate fatal road accidents across Israel on Thursday. The day's tragic toll brought the total number of road fatalities in 2026 to 321.

The first incident occurred around 8:22 AM in Herzliya, where a cyclist in his 50s was struck and killed by a car that subsequently overturned. A witness described the scene as a "dreadful road accident." Police arrested a 24-year-old Palestinian from Shechem, suspected of stealing the vehicle and causing the fatal crash. He was found with tools used for vehicle theft.

Later, at 10:30 AM, a collision between two private vehicles on Route 310 near Giv'ot Bar in the Negev claimed the lives of two men in their 30s. Both were relatives from the Tarabin tribe. Emergency responders described the scene as "dreadful," with severe damage to both cars.

Around 1:54 PM, a bus collided with a taxi on Highway 1 near the Kokhav Ya'ir interchange. The taxi driver, in his 70s, was killed, and four other passengers sustained injuries ranging from moderate to light. A witness reported the bus was "coming at speed."

The final fatal accident occurred at 5:14 PM near Kiryat Ata, where a motorcyclist in his 30s was killed, apparently after being hit by a taxi on Route 780. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, noting severe injuries.
