Northern Israeli City Continues Ban on Tap Water Due to Contamination
Residents of Karmiel in northern Israel are still prohibited from drinking tap water due to ongoing contamination, the municipality announced. Despite continuous testing and remediation efforts by the Ministry of Health, the Water Authority, Ein Karem Water Corporation, and Mekorot, the water quality remains unsafe for direct consumption.
The ban is expected to continue at least until morning, with authorities working to resolve the issue. The municipality is preparing to supply bottled water to educational institutions, including kindergartens and schools, ahead of the next day. Parents are also advised to send their children to school with additional personal water bottles.
Karmiel Mayor Moshe Kuninski stated that the city is prepared to support residents and the education system. He assured the public that testing is ongoing and all actions are being taken in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines. Any changes regarding the water quality will be communicated to the public promptly.
