Karmiel Residents Told to Boil Water Amid Ongoing Contamination Tests
The Karmiel Municipality announced Tuesday evening that the directive for residents to boil drinking water remains in effect through Wednesday, following ongoing tests of the municipal water supply. The Ministry of Health had previously issued the advisory earlier on Tuesday after receiving "abnormal sampling results."
Residents are instructed to boil water before drinking, cooking, preparing food, making medicine, and brushing their teeth until further notice. The municipality emphasized that home filtration systems do not replace boiling. Water can be used without boiling for bathing and sanitary purposes, and animals can drink the water untreated. Educational institutions in the city have been supplied with bottled water, and schools are expected to operate normally on Wednesday.
Mayor Moshe Kuninsky urged residents to adhere to the Ministry of Health's guidelines and stated that the municipality is working with professional bodies to identify the source of the contamination. He added that the municipality provided drinking water for kindergarten children on Tuesday and will continue to update the public as new information becomes available.
