Health Ministry Orders Karmiel Residents to Boil All Tap Water
The Israeli Ministry of Health has issued a directive requiring all residents of Karmiel to boil their tap water before drinking, cooking, preparing medicine, or brushing their teeth. This precautionary measure was enacted on Tuesday following the receipt of non-compliant water quality test results during routine sampling.
The directive remains in effect until further notice. The Ministry clarified that the water can still be used for bathing and sanitation purposes without boiling. The Ministry has instructed the water supplier to undertake corrective actions and conduct further water quality tests.
This situation is not unprecedented in Israel. In 2024, similar boiling orders were issued for the communities of Kfar Chabad and Safria. In 2023, the city of Haifa also experienced a temporary boiling order due to abnormal microbial results. In both previous instances, the order was lifted after subsequent tests confirmed the water's safety for consumption and all other uses.
Residents of Karmiel are urged to adhere strictly to the Ministry of Health's instructions until a new announcement is made.
