Health Ministry Warns Karmiel Residents Against Drinking Tap Water

The Ministry of Health has issued an urgent warning to the residents of Karmiel, a city in northern Israel, instructing them to immediately stop consuming tap water without boiling it first. This directive comes after the ministry received alarming and irregular water sampling results from its laboratories.

The ministry's strict guidelines mandate boiling all tap water before any use for consumption, including drinking, cooking, preparing medication, and even routine activities like brushing teeth. Officials emphasized the critical importance of adhering to these instructions to prevent public health risks.

However, the ministry clarified that residents can continue to use tap water for bathing and sanitation purposes, such as flushing toilets and general cleaning, without concern. The directive remains in effect until further notice.

Professionals are expected to conduct comprehensive tests on the city's water network to ensure the water quality returns to safe and standard levels. This is not the first water quality warning issued by the ministry in the north recently; a severe bathing warning was recently announced for the beaches of Kiryat Haim due to abnormal microbial findings in water quality tests. The ministry continues to stress that bathing is permitted only at declared and supervised beaches.
