Macklemore Removed From Ed Sheeran Tour After Pro-Palestine Remarks

Rapper Macklemore has been removed from the remaining dates of Ed Sheeran's U.S. tour after making political statements against Israel during a recent performance. Venue organizers reportedly informed Macklemore that he would not be allowed to perform, leading to his withdrawal from his scheduled opening act duties for eight shows.

The controversy began earlier this month when Macklemore, performing as a warm-up act for Sheeran in front of over 80,000 fans at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, called for "Free Palestine" and performed his song "Hind's Hall." This song is associated with pro-Palestinian protests on U.S. college campuses, and during the performance, images from Gaza and political messages were displayed on large screens.

The incident drew sharp criticism from American Israeli and Jewish community groups. The Israeli-American Council (IAC) launched a petition urging Ed Sheeran and Live Nation to remove Macklemore from the tour, arguing that the rapper used Sheeran's platform to promote one-sided political messages. The IAC stated that Sheeran and his production company bore responsibility for providing the platform.

Following the backlash and public outcry, Macklemore has been officially dropped from the rest of the U.S. tour and will no longer be opening for Sheeran.
