Hezbollah Militant Kills Israeli Soldier, Wounds Two in Lebanon Border Clash

An unusual confrontation occurred Monday in the Beaufort area of southern Lebanon when a Hezbollah militant opened fire on an Israeli military force from the Golani Brigade's reconnaissance unit. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the unit was conducting searches in the area when the militant, positioned inside a structure, fired upon the soldiers. The Israeli forces immediately returned fire, killing the militant. During the exchange, two IDF soldiers sustained light injuries and were evacuated for medical treatment, with their families notified. Following the incident, Israeli forces fired shells at the location where the militant had been hiding. Concurrently, the IDF expanded its operations in the region, targeting Hezbollah weapons storage facilities, command posts, and additional terror infrastructure. The IDF declared that these actions were in response to the attempt to harm its forces and emphasized its continued operations against Hezbollah threats in southern Lebanon. "The IDF will not allow the Hezbollah terror organization to harm Israeli civilians and its forces, and will continue to act to remove threats and uphold the ceasefire agreement," the IDF stated.
