Hezbollah Militant Killed, IDF Soldiers Injured in Southern Lebanon Clash
A Hezbollah militant was killed and two Israeli soldiers were lightly wounded during an exchange of fire in the Beaufort area of southern Lebanon on Monday. The incident occurred when the militant, positioned inside a structure, opened fire on an Israeli reconnaissance unit from the Golani Brigade conducting searches in the area. The soldiers returned fire, neutralizing the militant. The wounded soldiers were evacuated to a hospital and their families were notified.
Following the clash, the Israeli military targeted additional Hezbollah infrastructure in the region, including weapons depots, command centers, and terror facilities. This escalation follows a series of exchanges between the IDF and Hezbollah that began on Sunday. Earlier, Hezbollah launched two explosive drones toward IDF forces near the Ali Taher ridge, causing no casualties. In response, the IDF struck several Hezbollah facilities and targeted militants transferring weapons near Kfar Romin, aiming to neutralize the threat.
The IDF stated that measures were taken to minimize civilian harm during these strikes, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance. The army is investigating a claim that several uninvolved individuals may have been injured in the attacks.
On Sunday, Hezbollah also sent two explosive drones toward IDF forces in the same area, again without casualties. The Israeli Air Force retaliated by striking weapons depots and structures used for directing attacks against Israeli forces. The IDF reported that one targeted Hezbollah command center was established within a former hospital building in southern Lebanon, from which militants conducted observation and artillery operations.
In response to the drone launches, the IDF also attacked targets in the Nabatieh area, eliminating several Hezbollah militants. The military affirmed its commitment to continuing operations in the region, stating it will not allow Hezbollah to harm Israeli civilians or forces and will work to remove threats while adhering to the ceasefire agreement.
