Lapid Unveils Yesh Atid Candidates for United Yahad List
Opposition leader Yair Lapid has announced the candidates from his Yesh Atid party who will be included in the unified Yahad electoral list for the upcoming October 27 elections. Following Lapid himself, Knesset Member Meirav Ben-Ari secured the second position on the list. Other prominent figures included are retired Major General Noam Tibon, Knesset Member Meirav Cohen, and Knesset Member Ram Ben Barak.
An agreement between Lapid and Yahad leader, former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, stipulates that Yesh Atid will occupy four of the top ten spots on the combined list and approximately half of the first fifteen positions. Furthermore, women are allocated four of the ten top slots designated for Yesh Atid, and seven of the fifteen overall top spots.
The list's release follows the announcement by five incumbent Yesh Atid Knesset members that they will not run on the Yahad slate. The party maintains that these individuals will retain their faction membership and participate in the election campaign.
"If we want to rehabilitate the country, there is no better way to do it than to empower these people," Lapid stated. This move comes amidst other political developments, including Gilad Erdan's withdrawal of his party from the Knesset elections.
