Elderly Israeli Woman Brutally Attacked in Paris Hotel Room

An 80-year-old Israeli tourist vacationing in Paris with her family was the victim of a violent assault early Tuesday morning when a man broke into her hotel room and attacked her. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. The woman screamed for help, alerting her relatives who rushed to her room. Police were called to the scene and apprehended the assailant.

The victim was taken to a hospital with severe facial injuries, including fractures, and was reportedly disoriented. She is scheduled to undergo surgery and her family intends to fly her back to Israel for the procedure. The family has been in contact with the Israeli Embassy in Paris and the consulate.

According to her son, the attacker entered the room and began punching his mother in the face without speaking. He stated they do not know the motive for the assault. However, an examination by the Israeli consulate in Paris suggests the attacker was intoxicated and unaware of the victim's nationality. Sources familiar with the matter indicated there is no suspicion of an antisemitic motive.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the attack and stated that the consulate and the department for Israelis in distress abroad are in continuous contact with the victim and her family. They are working with local authorities to ensure the case is handled appropriately and are providing all possible assistance. The ministry reiterated that current circumstances do not indicate the attack was motivated by antisemitism.
