Elderly Israeli Tourist Brutally Attacked in Paris Hotel Room

An Israeli woman in her 80s was severely assaulted while sleeping in her hotel room in Paris. The attack occurred around 3:00 AM when a reportedly intoxicated man entered her room and began hitting her in the face without warning. The victim's screams alerted her family members, who were staying in nearby rooms. They rushed to her room, subdued the assailant, and called the police, who subsequently arrested him.

The Israeli tourist sustained multiple facial fractures and was taken to a Paris hospital for initial treatment. She is expected to be flown back to Israel for further medical care and necessary surgeries. Her family is arranging her return.

Initially, due to the victim's Israeli nationality, investigators considered the possibility of an antisemitic motive. However, according to the French-Jewish news site IsraJ, investigations supported by Israeli consular services in Paris have found no evidence of an antisemitic motive at this stage. Reports suggest the attacker was drunk and unaware of his victim's nationality.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the attack, particularly how a stranger was able to enter the elderly woman's room undetected during the night.
