Elderly Israeli Tourist Brutally Attacked in Paris Hotel Room

An Israeli woman, approximately 80 years old, was severely assaulted in her Paris hotel room early Friday morning by a man who broke into her room. The attacker repeatedly struck her in the face while she was alone. The woman's screams alerted her family members in nearby rooms, who rushed to her aid, subdued the assailant, and held him until police arrived. Local authorities, alerted by hotel staff, arrested the man at the scene.

Following the brutal attack, the elderly tourist was hospitalized with multiple facial fractures and severe bruises. She is expected to undergo a series of surgeries. Due to the complexity of her medical condition, her family is working to urgently transfer her back to Israel for the necessary surgical procedures.

Initial investigations suggest the attacker was heavily intoxicated and not aware of the victim's nationality. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the incident, stating that Israel's consulate in Paris and the department for Israelis in distress abroad are in constant contact with the victim and her family. They are working with local authorities and providing assistance. The ministry clarified that current circumstances do not indicate the attack was motivated by antisemitism.
