Elderly Israeli Tourist Brutally Attacked in Paris Hotel Room

An 80-year-old Israeli tourist was severely beaten in her Paris hotel room early Friday morning by an intoxicated intruder. The assailant reportedly broke into her room around 3 a.m. and attacked her while she was sleeping. Her family, staying in adjacent rooms, heard her screams, rushed to her aid, subdued the attacker, and saved her life. French police were called to the scene and arrested the suspect.

The victim sustained multiple facial fractures and was initially taken to a Paris hospital. Due to the severity of her injuries and the trauma, her family has opted for her to return to Israel for surgery and recovery. They are currently arranging for her swift transport back to the country.

Initial fears that the attack might have been motivated by antisemitism were downplayed by authorities. Reports citing Israeli consular officials in Paris suggest the attacker was heavily intoxicated and acted randomly. Investigators believe he was unaware of the victim's nationality or background before the assault. Police are also investigating how the suspect managed to breach hotel security without being detected.
