Elderly Israeli Tourist Attacked in Paris Hotel Room

An 80-year-old Israeli tourist was severely beaten in her Paris hotel room early Friday morning, September 4, 2026. A drunken man allegedly broke into her room around 3 a.m. and began punching her in the face. The woman's relatives, who were staying nearby, heard her cries for help and intervened, subsequently calling the police. The assailant was apprehended at the scene.

The victim was transported to a medical facility with facial injuries and in a state of shock. Doctors diagnosed her with facial bone fractures, necessitating surgery. Her family is planning to transfer her back to Israel for the procedure and is in contact with the Israeli consulate in France.

According to her son, the attacker entered the room and began the assault without speaking. He stated, "My mother screamed for help, and only then did it stop. We don't know what the motive for the attack was." An investigation by the Israeli consul in Paris indicated the perpetrator was heavily intoxicated and unaware of the victim's nationality. Diplomatic officials reported that preliminary findings do not suggest the incident was motivated by antisemitism.
