Joint List Slams Ra'am for Adding Zionist Candidate to Knesset List
The Joint List, an alliance of Arab-majority parties, has strongly criticized the United Arab List (Ra'am) for its decision to include Yoav Segalovitch in the second spot on its Knesset list. The Joint List argued that this move represents a "long-term political price" for the policy of "influence" championed by Ra'am leader Mansour Abbas.
According to the Joint List, Segalovitch, who identifies as a Zionist, has a background in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the police. They further stated that he refuses to explicitly recognize a Palestinian state. The Joint List contends that Segalovitch will effectively secure a guaranteed Knesset seat through the votes of the Arab public.
"Abbas preferred a partner who boasts of his Zionism over a partnership with his own people," the Joint List stated. They questioned the logic of failing to find common ground with three other Arab parties while quickly accommodating Segalovitch.
