Ra'am and Former MK Yoav Segalovitch Announce Joint Political Alliance

Ra'am party chairman Mansour Abbas and former Yesh Atid Knesset member Yoav Segalovitch have finalized an agreement to run together in the upcoming elections. The two are scheduled to hold a joint press conference on Monday evening to officially announce Segalovitch's inclusion on the Ra'am list, where he will be placed in the second position.

This political union follows months of negotiations and a recent meeting between Abbas and Segalovitch to settle the final terms of the arrangement. Following that meeting, they stated they had discussed "the importance of the move for all citizens of the State of Israel and the fabric of Jewish-Arab relations," and indicated they would continue to advance the alliance.

Abbas previously clarified that Segalovitch would be joining the Ra'am list as an individual and not as a member of the party itself. "This is the joining of one person to the list. He will not be a member of the Ra'am party," Abbas stated. He emphasized that the significance of this alliance lies in strengthening "the fabric of relations" and "civil cohesion," rather than electoral gains or legitimizing Ra'am.

During the negotiations, Abbas insisted on a technical arrangement where Segalovitch would not be considered a party member and no changes would be made to Ra'am's internal constitution. In return, Segalovitch reportedly sought freedom of voting on religion and state issues, as well as affirmations that Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people. With the negotiations concluded, Segalovitch is expected to take the second spot on the Ra'am slate.
