Former Deputy Minister Yoav Segalovitch to Join Ra'am Party

The Ra'am party is expected to announce on Monday the addition of former Deputy Minister for National Security Yoav Segalovitch to its Knesset list. Segalovitch, 67, is reportedly slated to be placed in the second position on the party's slate.

Ra'am Chairman Mansour Abbas has been in discussions with Segalovitch for months, and in recent days, Abbas has worked within the party's institutions to finalize the move. Segalovitch previously served as head of the Police Investigations Department, overseeing significant investigations into senior public figures, including former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. He was elected to the Knesset with the Yesh Atid party and served as Deputy Minister of Internal Security in the previous "government of change." In that role, he led efforts against crime in the Arab community, coordinating with various government ministries and achieving notable results. This program was subsequently canceled by Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir upon the formation of the current government.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid commented on the potential move in an interview with Galatz, stating, "I think Segalovitch is mistaken in joining Ra'am. We had long conversations about this. But at least he is doing what he believes in, and I appreciate him for that."
