IDF Kills Hamas Commander Who Held Israeli Hostage in Gaza

Einav Tsangoker, mother of Israeli hostage and survivor Matan Tsangoker, publicly thanked the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for killing Ismail Muhammad Ibrahim Barim, the Hamas military commander who held her son captive in Gaza. In a post on X, she expressed gratitude on behalf of herself and Matan to all IDF soldiers and security forces involved in the operation that ended the life of the terrorist responsible for holding multiple hostages, including Matan, in Gaza.

The IDF confirmed earlier that they killed Barim in an airstrike conducted last night near Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. Barim was known for detaining Israeli hostages Idan Alexander, Matan Tsangoker, and Avera Mengistu in a tunnel in southern Gaza. The military stated that Barim had recently been orchestrating terror attacks against Israeli forces and civilians and was actively working to rebuild Hamas’s military capabilities, violating the ceasefire agreement.

The IDF emphasized that the strike aimed to eliminate the immediate threat posed by Barim. Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operations to neutralize any ongoing threats to Israel’s security.
