IDF Confirms Killing Hamas Commander Holding Three Israeli Hostages in Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Thursday that they killed Ismail Muhammad Ibrahim Barim, a commander in Hamas's military wing, during an operation near Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. Barim was holding three Israeli hostages, Idan Alexander, Matan Tsangoker, and Avera Mengistu, in a tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip. According to the IDF, Barim had recently been orchestrating terrorist attacks against Israeli forces and civilians and was working to rebuild Hamas's military capabilities, violating the ceasefire agreement. The IDF stated the strike aimed to eliminate the immediate threat posed by Barim. Forces under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire and will continue efforts to neutralize any ongoing threats.
