IDF Eliminates Hamas Khan Younis Brigade Commander in Gaza Strike

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet security agency announced Thursday the precise airstrike elimination of Mohammed Yazouri, the commander of Hamas's Khan Younis brigade in southern Gaza. Yazouri was responsible for directing the brigade's operatives and advancing terror plots against Israeli forces and civilians.

According to a joint statement from the IDF and Shin Bet spokespersons, Yazouri had held several senior positions within the brigade, including deputy commander, combat support battalion commander, and head of intelligence. Recently, he had been working to advance numerous terror plans against the IDF and to rebuild the brigade's capabilities, which had been significantly degraded during the ongoing conflict.

The IDF emphasized that the strike was carried out to neutralize the immediate threat Yazouri posed. Also killed in the same strike were two other Hamas military wing operatives in the Khan Younis brigade: Hudhaifa Ammar, a company commander, and Mohammed Bahjat Rachi.

This assassination is part of a broader series of operations by the IDF in Gaza. Last week, the IDF eliminated Mohammed Al-Qadi, a commander in Hamas's elite Nukhba force who led the October 7th raid on the Sufa outpost and was involved in holding hostages. Earlier this week, Israeli forces destroyed three Hamas weapons depots containing firearms, explosives, anti-tank missiles, and other military equipment.

Security officials stressed that operations in Gaza continue with the aim of degrading Hamas's military capabilities and preventing the rebuilding of its infrastructure. Forces are determined to thwart any attempts by Hamas to restore its military strength or stockpile weapons for attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians.
