Car Theft Chase in Jerusalem Ends in Fatal Crash After Suspect Loses Control
A car theft in Jerusalem's Katamon neighborhood ended tragically early Wednesday morning when the suspect died following a police chase. After the stolen vehicle was spotted, officers from the Moriah, Heart of the Capital, and Shalem stations pursued the suspect, who refused to stop and drove recklessly against traffic, endangering police and civilians. Due to the imminent danger, police fired at the vehicle's tires in an attempt to halt the suspect. Despite this, the suspect continued fleeing until losing control at the Al-Tur junction, crashing into a pole and another car. The suspect, whose identity remains unknown, was critically injured and later pronounced dead at the hospital. Additionally, a police officer and a civilian sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment. The police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
