Jerusalem Police Chase Ends With Suspect Dead After Stolen Car Crash

In Jerusalem, a suspect involved in a stolen vehicle incident died following a police chase that ended in a fatal crash. The incident began late Tuesday night when police received a report of a stolen car from the Katamon neighborhood in southern Jerusalem. Patrol units from the Jerusalem district, including stations Moriah, Lev HaBira, and Shalem, identified the vehicle and attempted to stop it.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, refused to comply with police orders and fled, driving recklessly and against traffic. Police officers, fearing for public safety, fired at the vehicle’s tires in an effort to halt the escape. Despite this, the suspect continued driving until crashing into a pole and another car at the Al-Tur junction.

The suspect was critically injured and transported to the hospital where he later died despite resuscitation efforts. Additionally, a police officer and a civilian sustained minor injuries and were treated for their wounds. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the chase and crash.
