Car Theft Chase in Jerusalem Ends with Suspect Dead and Two Injured

A car theft incident in Jerusalem ended late Wednesday night with the death of the suspect and injuries to a police officer and a civilian. The police received a report about a stolen vehicle from the Katamon neighborhood and dispatched patrol units from the Jerusalem district, including forces from the Moriah, Lev HaBira, and Shalem stations. Officers located the stolen car in motion and attempted to safely stop it, but the suspect ignored police commands and fled recklessly.

During the chase, the suspect drove against traffic, endangering police and other drivers. Due to the immediate danger and the suspect's refusal to stop, officers fired targeted shots aimed at the vehicle's wheels. Despite this, the suspect continued driving until reaching the Al-Tur junction, where he lost control and crashed into a tree and a private car.

The collision resulted in minor injuries to a police officer and a civilian, both treated at the scene. The suspect, whose identity remains unknown, was extracted from the wreckage in critical condition and underwent resuscitation efforts but was pronounced dead at the hospital.
