Suspect Dies After Police Chase and Crash in Jerusalem Over Stolen Car
A suspect involved in a stolen vehicle incident died early Wednesday morning following a police chase and crash in Jerusalem. The suspect fled in a stolen car from the Katamon neighborhood, driving against traffic during the pursuit. The chase ended at the At-Tur junction, where the suspect collided with a pole and a private vehicle, sustaining critical injuries and later dying at the hospital. The police initiated the pursuit after receiving a report of the stolen car and attempted to stop the suspect, who ignored commands and endangered officers and other road users. During the chase, officers fired targeted shots at the vehicle's tires in an effort to halt the suspect, but the driver continued fleeing until losing control at the junction. The suspect's identity remains unknown. Additionally, a police officer and a civilian were lightly injured and treated at a medical facility.
