Tel Aviv's KKL Bridge Closes for Two Weeks of Major Safety Repairs

Starting the night of Saturday, August 15, the KKL Bridge in Tel Aviv will be closed to traffic for two weeks to undergo extensive maintenance and safety upgrades. The closure is organized by the Ministry of Transportation and Tel Aviv Municipality through Netivei Ayalon and will be divided into two main phases, each affecting different traffic directions.

In the first phase, from August 15 at 23:30 until August 21 at 06:00, west-to-east lanes on the bridge will be closed to allow for joint and structural repairs. During this time, drivers coming from Ayalon South will not be able to turn left onto the bridge but can turn right onto KKL Boulevard as usual. Left turns from Ayalon North will remain permitted, and access to Highway 20 southbound from the KKL interchange will stay open. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the northern part of the bridge.

The second phase will begin on the night of August 22 at 23:30 and continue until August 28 at 06:00, during which east-to-west lanes will be closed. Detailed traffic arrangements for this phase will be announced closer to the date. Throughout the entire period, Highway 20 lanes themselves will remain open.

Significant traffic congestion is expected around the bridge, and Netivei Ayalon recommends drivers use alternative routes and navigation apps like Waze. Public transportation routes and stops in the area will also be adjusted, with full coordination with the Israel Police and traffic supervisors.
