Police Investigate Mysterious Disappearance of Eldar Dayan Amid Hit-and-Run Suspicion

Eldar (Yitzhak) Dayan, a 23-year-old from Dimona, has been missing for 11 days, prompting police to suspect his disappearance is not a typical missing person case. Eldar was last seen on July 16 when he messaged his girlfriend that he was leaving to return to the city. He also spoke briefly with his sister, but since then, his family has had no contact with him, and his phone has been unreachable.

According to Eldar's mother, Shilat, the last known location of Eldar was near Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv on July 17. Eldar and a friend reportedly went to a nearby Paz gas station where they parted ways. The following day, police received a report of an abandoned car near a gas station in Petah Tikva, with a broken windshield and blood stains. The car, registered to one of Eldar's friends, was found with its license plate removed. The friend claimed he was heading back to Dimona but never arrived.

Two of Eldar's friends, including the owner of the car, were arrested on suspicion of obstructing the investigation. Police are exploring various leads, including a hit-and-run incident and possible involvement of unknown assailants. Eldar's family initially did not report him missing, only filing a complaint on July 24 after his grandmother noticed his absence and lack of communication.

The investigation remains active, with police emphasizing that this is not a routine missing person case. They are examining hospital admissions in central Israel and Tel Aviv for potential connections. Eldar's mother expressed frustration over conflicting accounts from Eldar's friend and the lack of clear information about what happened.
