Friend of Missing Israeli Man Eldar Dayan Recalled for Contradictory Testimonies in Ongoing Investigation
Eldar Dayan, a 22-year-old from Dimona, has been missing since last Friday after a night out in Tel Aviv. Dayan went out with two friends, but his whereabouts have been unknown since then, prompting a police investigation amid growing concerns. Before disappearing, Dayan sent a message to his girlfriend saying, "There is a mess here, I will talk to you when we arrive."
Police have summoned one of Dayan's friends for further questioning due to conflicting statements about their movements that night. Initial claims that the group was near Yarkon Park were disproved by surveillance footage, which showed they were not in that area. New information suggests Dayan was last seen at a convenience store in Petah Tikva on Friday morning, but his current status remains unknown.
Dayan's mother, Shilat Na'im, who traveled from Eilat to follow the investigation, expressed deep distress and frustration over the conflicting accounts and lack of clarity. She pleaded publicly for any information about her son, saying, "How can friends go home and sleep peacefully when their friend did not return? I do not know if he is alive." Police and search dogs continue extensive searches in central Israel, while the investigation into the circumstances of Dayan's disappearance, including a reported altercation near Yarkon Park, remains active. The police have yet to decide whether to extend the detention of the friend currently under investigation.
