Man Indicted for Car Bomb Murder of Ovanekh Dinko in Afula Residential Area

Two months after a deadly car bomb explosion in Afula, Israeli police have indicted a 38-year-old man from Migdal HaEmek for the murder of Ovanekh Dinko. The attack occurred on May 26, when an explosive device detonated inside Dinko's vehicle in the middle of a residential neighborhood, critically injuring him and leading to his death at Emek Medical Center.

Surveillance footage from the scene shows children walking along the street just moments before the blast, highlighting the danger posed to bystanders. The investigation revealed that the suspect began preparing the attack approximately eight hours before the explosion. He used a stolen vehicle equipped with counterfeit license plates taken from an identical car to carry out the bombing.

The suspect was arrested within hours of the incident following an investigation by the YAMAR (Judea and Samaria) police unit of the Emek region. Authorities also recovered the operational vehicle used in the attack. Northern District Police Commander Meir Eliyahu visited the scene on the day of the explosion and emphasized that solving murder cases and preventing serious crime remain top priorities. He credited the swift closure of the case to intensive investigative and operational efforts.
