Police forces solved the car bombing case in Holon and the placement of an explosive device at the entrance to an apartment in Ashdod. Police announced today, Thursday, that they had solved two serious criminal incidents involving the use of explosive devices, a car bombing in Holon and the placement of a device at the entrance to an apartment in Ashdod. At the end of the investigation, a notice of intent to indict was filed today against two suspects, indicating the prosecution’s intention to file a serious indictment against them in the coming days.
The first incident occurred about a month ago, when around 11:00 p.m. a report was received of a car explosion on Bialik Street in Holon. The explosion caused heavy damage to the vehicle, but fortunately there were no casualties. Police bomb disposal experts who arrived at the scene determined that the explosion had been caused by an explosive device placed in the vehicle. The police investigation led to the identification of two suspects, residents of Tel Aviv and Bat Yam in their 30s. During the open investigation, which began with their arrest about three weeks ago, evidence was collected linking them to another incident involving the placement of an explosive device at the entrance to an apartment on Uzi Hitman Street in Ashdod, which occurred about three months ago.
The suspects’ detention was extended from time to time at the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court, and today, with the completion of evidence gathering, the notice of intent to indict was filed. The prosecution is expected to request their detention until the end of the proceedings against them, over their involvement in the two serious criminal incidents.
