Police Say They Solved Holon Car Bombing and Ashdod Apartment Bomb Case, Suspects to Be Indicted
The Tel Aviv District Police Central Unit said Thursday that it had solved the car bombing on Bialik Street in Holon and the placing of an explosive device at the entrance to an apartment on Uzi Hitman Street in Ashdod. At the end of the investigation, a prosecutor’s statement was filed against the two suspects, Dmitry Buliok and Michael Zertch, and police plan to file a serious indictment against them in the coming days, along with a request to keep them in custody until the end of proceedings.
According to the investigation materials, on April 14, at around 11:00 p.m., a report was received of a car explosion on Bialik Street in Holon. The explosion caused heavy damage to the vehicle, but there were no injuries. Holon police officers and police bomb disposal experts who arrived at the scene opened an initial investigation, during which it emerged that the explosion was caused by an explosive device that had been planted.
Police said the investigation, led by the Tel Aviv Central Unit and including a range of investigative measures and technological tools, led to the identification of the suspects, who are believed to have been involved in planting the device and causing the car explosion. On May 25, when the investigation became public, the suspects, Tel Aviv and Bat Yam residents in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
Police also said that during the investigation, investigators were able to gather evidence linking the two to another incident, in which an explosive device was allegedly placed at the entrance to an apartment on Uzi Hitman Street in Ashdod on March 14, 2026. According to police, the motive was an attempt to intimidate over debts to the informal loan market. The suspects’ detention was extended from time to time by the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court, and today, at the end of the investigation, a prosecutor’s statement was filed against them ahead of the indictment.
