Man From Migdal HaEmek Charged With Murder in Afula Car Bombing

Following an extensive investigation, police announced on Monday that a 38-year-old resident of Migdal HaEmek will be charged with the murder of Obnek Dinko, who died from injuries sustained in a car bomb explosion in Afula on May 26. The explosion occurred in a residential neighborhood, and Dinko was evacuated in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries at Emek Hospital. Northern District Police Chief Meir Eliyahu ordered the case to be transferred to the Central Unit of the Emek Division for investigation.

Investigators quickly arrested the suspect and seized the vehicle used in the attack, which was stolen and disguised with legitimate license plates taken from an identical car. The suspect's preparations began approximately eight hours before the bombing, involving multiple actions around the scene and access routes.

The Northern District Prosecutor's Office, represented by attorneys Yaara Barzilai Cohen and Roy Alfasi, filed the indictment today at the Nazareth District Court. Chief Eliyahu emphasized that solving murder cases and combating serious crime remain top priorities, praising the swift work of the Emek Unit in apprehending the suspect and advancing the case. Police continue to work intensively to resolve ongoing investigations and ensure that those involved in serious crimes face justice.
