Beitar Jerusalem Fans Attacked in Ambush Before Cyprus Conference League Match

Before the Conference League second qualifying round match between Beitar Jerusalem and AEK Larnaca in Larnaca on Thursday evening, several Beitar fans were violently attacked by local supporters. According to eyewitnesses, a group of Beitar fans walking alone were ambushed by 60 to 70 AEK Larnaca fans who threw stones and physically assaulted them. One fan described how the attackers "blew them up with blows" after ambushing them from the hillside. Another fan noted that most of the Beitar supporters were already inside the stadium cheering, and those injured were mostly younger fans who suffered facial bleeding.

Cypriot police intervened in multiple violent incidents related to the clashes, resulting in the arrest of one Israeli and six Cypriots. Two people were injured but did not require intensive medical treatment. Ambulances and paramedics treated those who were bleeding at the scene. The match was scheduled for 19:30 local time and was broadcast on Sport1.
