Beitar Jerusalem Denies Involvement in Clashes Ahead of Cyprus Conference League Match

Ahead of the Conference League second qualifying round match between AEK Larnaca and Beitar Jerusalem on Thursday evening in Cyprus, tensions have escalated in Larnaca. Reports from Cypriot media claimed that several disturbances and clashes occurred in the city center overnight involving Israeli fans. However, Beitar Jerusalem strongly denied these allegations, stating that their supporters did not cause any damage in Larnaca's streets. The club's spokesperson, Asaf Nahum, told Sport 5 that police representatives confirmed there were no significant incidents and that the reports were false. According to Nahum, the police explained that it was actually AEK Larnaca fans who attempted to provoke a fight, and tear gas was used solely against AEK supporters. He emphasized that no Beitar fans were arrested or intended to be arrested and criticized the misinformation circulating about the club. Nahum expressed hope that the match would proceed peacefully and that the team could focus on the game itself.
